Roles at Jamaica Blue

The success of our Jamaica Blue cafes relies on each crew member’s contribution to the team.

We all have a role to play and we encourage our teams to support each other on their shifts so that our customers receive the best possible experience.

While each role will vary a little from café to café, these are the key responsibilities of each role.

Shift Supervisor

This position is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all team members are equipped with training and knowledge to deliver the best customer experience
  • Ordering
  • Rostering
  • Standards of service
  • Ensuring health and safety practices are adhered to

Guest Service Ambassador

This role is responsible for:

  • Delivering friendly service, a warm welcome, ensuring wait times are kept to a minimum
  • Knowledge of the menu
  • Cashiering
  • Team player

Barista

This position is responsible for:

  • All things coffee, delivering freshly grind coffee to every order
  • Ensuring extraction is between 25-30 seconds, quality takes a little time!
  • Assist in other roles in the café
  • Ensure the coffee machine and equipment is in tip top working order

Cook

This role is responsible for:

  • Food preparation
  • Health and safety practices in the kitchen and service areas
  • Ensure all menu items are made to order and meet the high standards of Jamaica Blue
  • Making sure that the cabinet is well presented and appealing
